The Los Angeles County EMS Agency’s emergency power resilience initiative spanned four years and resulted in the most advanced protocols for hospital emergency power status reporting in the country. The new protocols, and other best practices for safeguarding emergency power, were introduced in the Healthcare Facility Emergency Power Resilience Playbook, published in October 2023. The LA County initiative offers a valuable roadmap other jurisdictions can use to guide their own work to bolster emergency power resilience for hospitals and other critical healthcare facilities.
